Self-Pay
Opting for self-pay eye surgery is a straightforward process and as your surgeon, I am here to guide you through each step to ensure you receive the best possible care. Please contact me directly for pricing information.
Understanding Self-Pay Benefits
Choosing self-pay for your eye surgery offers several benefits. It gives you the freedom to select the timing of your procedure without waiting for insurance approvals. You also have more flexibility in choosing the surgeon and the type of treatment that suits your needs best.
Transparent Pricing
One of the advantages of self-pay is the transparency of costs. Each hospital I work at will provide you with a package price and there is also the option of spreading the cost of your treatment with a finance solution.
Personalised Care
You will receive personalised care tailored to your specific needs. We can schedule your surgery at a time that is convenient for you.
Initial Consultation
Our journey begins with an initial consultation where we will discuss your eye health and the specific surgery you require. During this visit, I will explain the procedure in detail, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with a clear idea of what to expect before, during, and after the surgery.
Post-Surgery Support
After your surgery, I will provide you with detailed care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. You will have access to follow-up appointments and any necessary support to monitor your progress and address any concerns promptly.
Insurance
Navigating insurance for eye care and eye surgery can seem a bit overwhelming, but as your surgeon, my team and I are here to help you through the process and ensure you receive the best care possible.
I am here to support you through each step of this journey. By working together we can ensure that your Ophthalmic Care is delivered at an exceptional standard.
Do I Need a Referral?
Although you do not need a referral to see me, many insurance policies require a referral from your GP or Optometrist, so check with them first to make sure you are covered. Once you have a referral, we can evaluate your condition and decide on the best treatment plan together.
Check Your Policy
Initially it is important to understand what your policy includes, as well as any exclusions or limitations and that your treatment will be covered.
Even with insurance, you might still have some out-of-pocket expenses. These could include an excess (a fixed amount you pay), co-payments, or costs for services not fully covered by your policy.
I will help you understand these potential expenses upfront so you can plan accordingly.
Pre-Authorisation
Before we proceed with surgery, we will need to get pre-authorisation from your insurance provider.
This involves providing them with details of your diagnosis, the recommended procedure, and my credentials. Do not worry; we can handle most of this paperwork for you to ensure the surgery is covered under your policy.
Claims Process
Submit your insurance claim promptly with all the necessary documents, such as your referral, pre-authorisation code and any receipts that you may have. Following your insurer’s specific claims process will help avoid any delays in reimbursement.
Post-Surgery Care
Please check with your insurer that they cover follow-up appointments and any necessary medications or treatments related to the surgery. It is important to keep all receipts and documentation, as you might need them for reimbursement.
